Photo of the week:

What a place to have a wedding!  This is the interior of the main atrium at the Gran Melia in Cancun.  They have these vines hanging from the balcony of every floor into the atrium of each of the five or six towers at the resort.  What amazed me more was that to grow more plants, the took cuttings of each of these vines as they trim them, then plant them in small soil patches on the ground floor, then pot them on each floor.

I love to shoot destination weddings.  It's not only a chance to see a  new place and get away from the city for a bit, but usually, it's a more intimate gathering, a closer group of friends and family gathered for the event.  No matter how opulent or elegant the affair, it always turns out to be comfortable and intimate for the guests, more fun too, I think.

Photo of the week  -Vday

A friend threw a non-valentine's day formal party over the weekend.  Yes, dress up and have a non-Valentine's good time.  Here's one of the choice shots from the night.

My wife and I usually don't place any importance on the holiday, but every once in a while, one of us will surprise the other with somehing romantic or sweet.

This year we just spent time with friends, that may have been the sweetest part of it.

Twittertastic!

I had the privelege of shooting the first Chicago Twitter event at the Catalyst Ranch on Thursday.  This is just a design on one of the tables there. It's is one of the coolest, kitschiest, most fun environments I've seen in the city.  I can't wait to go back for another function.

I met some wonderful people who are now all following me on Twitter.  You should too.  Look for "gopho" on Twitter and you'll find me.  I am just getting into the whole Twitter thing.  It's a great social networking and communication tool.  I like it so far.

In the mean time, happy Valentine's Day to everyone.  I'll be going to a formal party this evening, and of course, I'll be shooting there too.  I'll post some pictures of that next week.

Photo of the week

More from Cancun!  This girl was playing on the beach for an eternity.  It reminded me of being that young, visiting Florida, enjoying the pure fun of sand and surf on the Atlantic.

Whilst visiting Mexico, I had the pleasure of dipping in, body surfing the Carribean waves that crashed to the shore.  I love the feeling of the ocean, especially when the water is warm.  There's no feeling like it.  It's like a great tranquilizer.

I can't wait to go back.  Hopefully, next time I won't pick up Montezuma's revenge!

Neurotics Anonymous

I just got back from a short trip to Cancun for a friend's wedding.  I'm not going to show any of the wedding shots just yet, and no, this certainly isn't one of them.

I had very little time to do what I love most, roam and explore.  In the two hours I had to get into the old part of Cancun, the downtown area and the main market, Mercado 28, I snapped this on the way.

This 24 hour clinic hosts meetings for Neurotics Anonymous.  I'm willing to bet that everyone shows up on time and the coffee served is decaf.
