This ornate metal work is part of an ark for a Torah. I had the pleasure of shooting a Bar Mitzvah recently and it brought back so many memories of my childhood. It has been a long time since I've been involved with a synagogue. This one was brand new and the most prominent feature is easy to spot and to shoot. I love the ornate design, the colors and the amount of work that went into this ark. I sat and thought about the artist's homage to the Torah, the testament of faith in a physical form. It brought up so many questions about my history and my faith, my search for capital 'T' Truth, and my beliefs.
